Developer insights: employees & students in the German federal states 2021

How many computer science students do we have coming out of the unis? And how does that contrast with the developer numbers? The stats for 2021.

Developers vs. computer science students

When it comes to students the only available breakdown is for federal states, not cities or hubs. The latest stats we have available are from Destatis, the German authority for statistics. 2022 numbers are not yet in the database, so we can only look at 2021.

The subjects I considered are all the subjects that have a computer science focus according to the Destatis categories:
