IT insights: where are the IT systems analysts, IT consultants and IT salespeople in Germany? — 2022
They are largely distributed, but still more concentrated than the developers of the nation. All details on the maps below.
In previous analyses it became apparent that Germany is a distributed country in the digital landscape. On the whole, large hubs like Munich, Berlin, Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Hamburg dominate.
Yet, the mid-sized hubs and smaller centers together account for an astonishing number of IT specialists and developers in particular.
Where does the data come from?
The Federal Agency for Enployment publishes data on which this analysis is based on. The dataset contains a large IT category and 4 subcategories that are divided into a generic “informatics” category (a pool for unspecified jobs and compsci & business graduates), a sysadmin & IT org category, a developers category and an IT systems analysts, consultants and salespeople category. Going forward, I will abbreviate it with “IT-SA/C/S” for readability purposes.
In this overview, I’m focusing on the latter. When we compare the sheer numbers, the developers subset forms the largest share and stands at roughly over 25% of all IT staff.
