KOFA study: never a greater shortage of skilled workers in IT jobs in Germany
Shortage of skilled IT workers — good opportunity for upwards-oriented movers and career changers!
With around 42,000 unfilled vacancies, a new all-time high has been recorded for the skills gap in IT jobs. This sets forth an ongoing trend we have been observing since 2015.
This phenomenon is also reflected in the number of overall vacancies, rising since 2010 and at a new record high of 67,924.
The number of unemployed for the year 2022 is 27,136 and has changed only slightly over the past decade.
Skilled labor situation for experts in IT occupations is particularly tight
Given the level of qualification, the shortage of IT experts stands out particularly compared to other qualification levels. Who is defined to be an “expert”?
Expert: person who has completed a highly advanved qualification, usually a university graduation
Specialist: person who has completed a vocational training combined with an advanced training
Professional: person who has completed a vocational training
